Expert voices on BDA to showcase China's wisdom

Since the launch of the 2024 Better Design Award (BDA), the BDA committee has successfully hosted several promotion conferences in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, and beyond. The conferences have brought together numerous experts to explore the future and emerging trends in the design industry in the age of intelligence from various perspectives, including design, culture, science and technology, economy, and lifestyle. The discussions have delved into the core values of design and innovative methodologies, sharing good designs, strong brands, and healthy lifestyles.

He Renke, BDA Brand Evaluation Jury President, spoke in-depth about the interdependent relationship between design and industry at the Guangzhou conference. He stressed that design is an essential part of a company's core competitiveness, not just an external addition. Quoting a former IBM President, he noted, "Good design is good business," and emphasized the need for education and research to focus on cultivating designers with a global vision and competence to drive innovation. He also highlighted the importance of advancing foundational research in AI design tools to empower industries with technology and support their long-term growth.

In an interview at the Shenzhen conference, Tong Huiming, BDA Brand Evaluation Jury President and Professor at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, expressed his hope that the participating product design teams would focus more on creating unique value for consumers. He emphasized that designs should not only showcase innovative ideas but also offer users fresh and distinctive experiences, thereby enhancing the value of design and improving user experience.
