Better Design Award (BDA) sets two major categories: work selection and brand selection.

Good life

Emphasis on design
to create a better life

including but not limited to: new generation of electronic information products, modern light industrial textiles (clothing, daily chemical, hardware, arts and crafts, etc.), home products (household appliances, furniture manufacturing, kitchen and bath, etc.), CMF (cutting-edge new materials, new processes, etc.), digital creativity and information services (digital audio-visual, interactive design, industrial software, etc.), national trend cultural innovation, fashion design and other fields products and services.

Future design

Emphasize that design
leads the future development

including but not limited to: smart city (smart community, medical care, transportation, cultural tourism, etc.), urban public design, green ecology, future industry, social innovation and other fields of products and services.

For manufacturing companies, design agencies, designers and colleges, individuals or teams all over the world

Registration Requirements

1.Product group entries must have been launched to the market within two years, the main designer or design team has the corresponding intellectual property rights and in line with the national industrial policy and relevant technology, standards and other related provisions.

2.The concept group entries must be original works of various inventions, novel designs and aesthetic designs that have not been sold or produced in the market, and have great innovations in function, structure, form, technology, materials and low-carbon.The launch to market time is not earlier than the final evaluation of this award.

3.One entry cannot apply for product group and concept group at the same time.

4.The work submitted by the participant must be the designer or owner of the work (the owner of the relevant intellectual property rights), and there are no intellectual property disputes with others (no intellectual property disputes have occurred or have been properly handled).

5.For works that are applying for relevant intellectual property certificate but have not been authorized, participants need to submit relevant proof at the time of registration.

(1) Take design as a means to reduce cost and increase efficiency, improve industrial competitiveness and productivity, and promote the development of design industry.

(1) Guide the entire industry to develop in a more environmentally friendly and sustainable direction by promoting green production technologies and practices.
(2) It has played a positive impact and demonstration role in environmental protection and sustainability.

(1) Make outstanding contributions to humanistic care, social and economic development, and strengthen the construction of ecological civilization.

Preliminary Evaluation

All entries are evaluated by online text description and pictures provided by participants.

Second Evaluation

All entries are evaluated by text description and physical products provided by participants.

Final Evaluation

All entries are evaluated by text description, physical products and participants need to make open reply.

Emphasis on design driven brands

Set a TOP10 brands driven by design, including enterprises that have made outstanding achievements in business model, design innovation, design management, etc., or design-driven brands with growth and development potential.

Candidate enterprise nomination. The nominees identified by the Organizing Committee will recommend the qualified candidates.

Participation Requirements

1.Brand created by a designer or a design company takes design thinking as the core, starts from the needs of users, and drives the business model and future development through design innovation, with high brand recognition and market competitiveness.

2. The works, materials submitted are true, accurate, legal and valid, and do not infringe others' intellectual property rights, trade secrets or other rights.

Evaluation Criteria

Founding team

The founder and CEO have a high awareness of innovative design, and the top executive team has a CDO or vice president of design position.

Design management

Innovation design is placed at the core of enterprise strategy, and the design department is a first-level R&D institution of the enterprise, with a sound innovative product development management system, and the CDO or vice president of design reports directly to the CEO or president.

Product innovation

The "user experience-centered design thinking" runs through the whole innovation chain of the enterprise including hardware, software and services, and can continue to create high-quality products and service systems with excellent design and breakthrough innovation and high user value.

Brand influence

With clear and distinct user positioning, product positioning and market positioning, with positive brand concept, vision and values of high recognition, highly unified brand image output, and have outstanding contribution to promote the innovation and development of the industry and the market.

Commercial value

With sustained high growth and high profit margin performance, the brand has become the high-quality development benchmark for transformation and upgrading in the industry.

Evaluation Procedure

Nomination of candidates

The nominees identified by the Organizing Committee will recommend the qualified candidates.

Preliminary Evaluation

The Organizing Committee will conduct online preliminary review and evaluation of the nominated candidates, and eliminate the candidates that do not meet the competition requirements.

Second Evaluation

Evaluate the offline physical products, text description and pictures.

Final Evaluation

Evaluate the text description, physical products, and participants need to make open reply.
