
He once served as Dean of the School of Design and Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Distinguished Professor under the Yangtze River Scholars Program, Chair Professor of the School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, President of AGI China, Executive Director of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI), Vice President of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (ICOGRADA), and Member of the Creative Economy Council of the World Economic Forum. He also held the position of Artistic Director for Image and Landscape Design of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) in 2008.
In 2004, he founded the Olympic Art Research Center at CAFA and acted as its Director. The center undertook the design of key Olympic projects including the Olympic sports pictograms, Olympic medals, and the official Olympic colour system. From October 2006 to October 2008, he served full-time as BOCOG Artistic Director for Image and Landscape Design. In recognition of the outstanding achievements delivered by the Olympic Art Research Center, the Central Academy of Fine Arts was awarded a Commendation by the State Council of the People's Republic of China in 2009.
