Hou Yuda is the Dean of Shenzhen Technology University School of Design and Innovation, and the Dean of the Design Research Institute of Shenzhen Technology University. He obtained dual bachelor's degrees in Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of Sheffield in the UK in 2007. He obtained a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto in 2011. He has worked for well-known landscape design companies in the UK and Canada. He is a member of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) and the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA). He has been researching public space design, low-carbon development, sponge city, and smart city for many years. He has participated in the design of public spaces and smart road projects in the UK and Canada. He has written guidelines for "Humanized Street Planning and Design" and "Low-Impact Development: Rainwater Management and Planning Guidelines". He has won numerous international and national awards, including the ASLA Merit Award, the Toronto Horticultural Society Award, and the Academic Excellence Award from the University of Toronto.
