
Hang Jian is Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee of the China Academy of Art. His major publications include History of Chinese Craft Aesthetics, The Philosophy of Craftsmanship, The Way of Design: Fundamental Issues of Chinese Design, The Goodness of Design, Design of Origin, and Design Meditations: Selected Recent Works of Hang Jian.
He has served as chief curator for numerous influential exhibitions, such as the inaugural Beijing International Design Triennial, Aesthetic City: Shanghai Design Exhibition, the 1st–4th China Design Exhibition & Public Art Thematic Exhibition, the 1st–2nd Triple Steps: Academic Nomination Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Handcrafts, and the Contemporary Mexican Art Exhibition. He is the Founding Chair of the Academic Committee of the Design Intelligence Award and the Founding Director of the China Design Museum.
