The Better Design Award (abbreviated as BDA) is an international, comprehensive design competition established under the guidance of China Media Group, Guangdong Provincial People's Government, Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, Shenzhen Municipal People's Government. It is open to global participants and aims to identify outstanding practices of design-driven innovation in technology, products, application scenarios, and industries. Centered around the goals of Chinese-style modernization, the competition focuses on building a modern industrial system and fostering new quality productive forces. It seeks to highlight how design empowers innovation and improves lives while leveraging the communication advantages of China’s new-generation mainstream media to build a world-class platform for Chinese design on the global stage.
The total prize pool is RMB 4.2 million Yuan.
1.All prizes are in RMB pre-tax amount. Winners are required to pay income tax according to law, or the prize will be paid after the withholding income tax is paid by the organizer.
2. The prize will be distributed after the award ceremony in accordance with the relevant fiscal and tax regulations and procedures of the People's Republic of China. The prize distribution period is about 6 months (starting from the end day of the award ceremony), and the winner must provide all the materials required for the award to the Organizing Committee in time.
The Organizing Committee has the right to postpone the payment of the prize in case of any delay in the submission of the materials or change of the recipient of the prize.
Guided by foresight, based on industrialization, and oriented toward the people, the evaluation follows the mainstream values of quality development in the design industry.
1.Foresight Dimension: This includes insights into technological innovation and social development, emphasizing that the design should align with global industrial transformation directions, serve human society's emerging needs, and maintain competitiveness and industry leadership throughout its lifecycle.
2.Industrialization Dimension: The design innovation must have industry demonstration potential, and conceptual works must have high feasibility for industrial transformation. The role of design in accelerating the conversion of technology into new products and services should be highlighted.
3.People-Centric Dimension:Emphasizing human-centered design that reflects the needs of the public's production and life, and meets requirements for green, sustainable development. The design should integrate Chinese design concepts and language with international expression, leading healthy and positive aesthetic values, and advocate for globalized design and design for good, and contribute to the building of a shared human community.
