The Final Judging of the Better Design Award (BDA) Concludes Successfully

Recently, the highly anticipated final judging of the Better Design Award (BDA) was successfully concluded in Shenzhen. Under the full supervision of a notary public, the two-day rigorous and detailed evaluation process determined the final list of winners.

Since the official launch of the BDA's call for submissions on May 21 this year, the competition has garnered widespread attention and active participation from the global design community. The BDA organizing committee received 7,183 design entries from 52 countries and regions, as well as 95 outstanding brands recommended by 42 renowned global institutions. After multiple rounds of screening and strict evaluation, 36 designs and 10 brands stood out and advanced to the final judging stage.

The final judging briefing sessions for the BDA were held by the President of the BDA Work Selection Jury, Professor He Renke from the School of Design at Hunan University, and the President of the BDA Brand Jury, Professor Tong Huiming from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. They guided the panels of expert judges through an in-depth understanding of the features and highlights of the shortlisted entries and brands. They also provided a detailed explanation of the judging process, rules, and operating procedures, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent evaluations.

The final judging was divided into three stages: graphic and physical review, live defense, and scoring. In the graphic and physical review stage, the judges carefully examined the visual materials submitted by participants and observed the actual products and their functionality. During the live defense stage, representatives from the participating companies and brand leaders took turns presenting their projects. Finally, the judges scored the entries based on both the earlier reviews and the live defenses.

After a rigorous and organized evaluation process, the review team held the final judging meeting for the Better Design Award (BDA) following the presentations of the works and brands in each category. During the meeting, the judges engaged in in-depth discussions about the display of entries in each category and the award structure, ultimately finalizing the list of winners. The Jury presidents also provided a comprehensive summary of the final evaluation process, expressing high praise for the jurors’ hard work and fair judgment.
